Senior management change at Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific today announced the appointment of Mr Joe Locandro as Director Information Technology effective 1 August 2012.

Mr Locandro will take over the company’s information technology leadership role from Mr Tomasz Smaczny who chose to leave the company last week to pursue other interests.

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive John Slosar said: “We welcome Joe to our leadership team. Joe comes with significant experience in traditional IT strategies and deliverables coupled with a deep commitment to innovation, which is critical to our success as we strive to enhance every facet of our customers’ experience on the ground and in the air.”

Mr Locandro joins Cathay Pacific from CLP where he served as Director, Group Information Technology. His key focus areas there have been on IT strategy and policy formation, strategic systems development, IT infrastructure, and developing initiatives supportive of the group’s business unit missions. A veteran in IT management, consulting and marketing, Mr Locandro has, prior to CLP, held a variety of Chief Information Officer posts in various industry sectors ranging from energy to entertainment.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Commerce from University of Melbourne, a graduate diploma in Marketing from Monash University and Strategic Application of Information Technology from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Mr Locandro is a member of the Hong Kong SAR government’s Digital 21 Strategy Advisory Committee as well as several other IT related advisory boards for universities and the Hong Kong Computer Society.
