Cathay Pacific welcomes reappointment of Dr Marvin Cheung as Airport Authority Chairman

Cathay Pacific Airways welcomes the reappointment of Dr Marvin Cheung Kin-tung as Chairman of the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) for one more year with effect from 1 June 2014.

"This is an important time for aviation in Hong Kong as planning work gets underway for the crucial development of a third runway at Hong Kong International Airport,” said Cathay Pacific Chief Executive John Slosar.

“Dr Cheung had already led the AAHK through a number of major challenges and we are pleased that he will be able oversee the third runway project. It is reassuring to know that continuity will be assured and that work can move ahead on this and other projects that will bring long-term benefits to Hong Kong.”

At the same time as welcoming Dr Cheung’s reappointment, Mr Slosar expressed his thanks to Mr Stanley Hui, who will step down as AAHK Chief Executive Officer from July 2014.

“Mr Hui came to the job with extensive experience in the aviation industry and his in-depth knowledge has been used to good effect over the past seven years,” Mr Slosar said. “We wish him well in his future endeavours.”
