Cathay Pacific suspends all flights to Tokyo till 12 March (Saturday) afternoon

Cathay Pacific Airways has suspended all flights to Narita International Airport and Haneda Airport in Tokyo until12 March (Saturday) afternoon, when the situation will be reviewed. The Narita airport has been closed after a massive earthquake hit the coast of north-eastern Japan.

The airline plans to operate flights to and from Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, Okinawa and Sapporo as scheduled, but passengers are advised to expect delays.

A Cathay Pacific spokesperson said the resumption of services to and from Narita tomorrow would depend on the airport operational status and the availability of ground transportation facilities in Tokyo. The airline will monitor the situation closely and will issue further updates on Saturday morning.

The spokesperson also called on passengers to cancel or postpone non-essential travel to Tokyo in keeping with the Government’s travel advice. It is likely that flights to and from Narita may continue to be affected over the next couple of days.
