Cathay Pacific suspends all flights to and from Malaysia
Cathay Pacific Airways today announced that it is suspending all its scheduled flights to and from Malaysia. This follows the Malaysian government's decision to impose stringent visa requirements on Hong Kong people wishing to visit the country, which severely affects demand for travel.
The airline had already suspended one flight, CX725/722, with effect from 3 April as a result in the recent downturn in business. This flight is suspended until 31 May. Another flight, CX723/724, was suspended effective today (10 April), while CX721/720, which serves Penang in addition to Kuala Lumpur, will be suspended from 13 April. Both these flights are suspended until further notice.
Cathay Pacific is disappointed with the current situation. However, the airline hopes it can restore some or all of its Malaysian flights at the earliest possible opportunity.
