Cathay Pacific statement - 25 Apr 2016

In response to the Airport Authority Hong Kong report released by the Hong Kong Government today (25 April 2016), Cathay Pacific Director Corporate Affairs James Tong said:

“Cathay Pacific Airways’ internal security guidelines are in full compliance with the HKCAD regulations.

“In this particular case on 28 March 2016, approval was granted by AVSECO personnel for Cathay Pacific staff to bring the bag through security screening to the passenger.

“As an airline, we are in the people business. Our staff are trained to provide the best customer service, and are always available to assist our passengers the best they can without compromising any security policies. We always aim to provide our signature ‘Service Straight from the Heart’ to passengers, and this is reflected in the service culture among our staff.

“I would like to reiterate that Cathay Pacific provides full support to our frontline teams and appreciates their hard work and commitment. We would always seek to protect our staff from any situation involving a potential security risk.”
