Cathay is a leading premium travel lifestyle brand based in Hong Kong, offering products and services across four lines of business –premium full-service airline Cathay Pacific, cargo business Cathay Cargo, low-cost airline HK Express, and our Cathay lifestyle business. The Cathay Group also includes express all-cargo carrier Air Hong Kong, and various other subsidiaries.

Cathay Pacific Airways Limited (“the Company”) was founded in Hong Kong in 1946. The Group has been deeply committed to its home base, extending to the rest of Greater Bay Area, making substantial investments to develop Hong Kong as one of the world’s leading international aviation centres.

Cathay is our master brand, which represents much more beyond airline travel. It represents our evolution into a premium travel lifestyle brand, consisting of a host of complementary categories – flights, holidays, shopping, dining, wellness and payment. All our travel lifestyle offerings are designed to bring customers exciting offers, rewards, and experiences with hand-picked partners.

Cathay Pacific is the brand of our airline. As at 31st December 2024*, Cathay Pacific and HK Express combined offered scheduled passenger services to 88 destinations worldwide, including 19 in the Chinese Mainland. Cathay Cargo offered scheduled freighter services to 41 destinations worldwide. Air Hong Kong offered scheduled and charter freighter services to 17 destinations. Furthermore, the Group served an additional 154 destinations through codeshare agreements. 

As at 31st December 2024, the Cathay Group had 236 aircraft. Cathay Pacific and Cathay Cargo had 180 passenger and cargo aircraft. The Cathay Group has started adding more than 100 new passenger and freighter aircraft to its fleet in the coming years.

HK Express, a low-cost carrier based in Hong Kong offering scheduled services within Asia, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific and had 41 aircraft as at 31st December 2024. 

Air Hong Kong, an express all-cargo carrier offering scheduled and charter services in Asia, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific operating 15 aircraft as at 31st December 2024. 

The Group’s other investments include catering, laundry, ground-handling and cargo terminal companies, and its corporate headquarters is based at Hong Kong International Airport.

Number of People

As at 31st December 2024, the Cathay Group employed more than 30,000 people worldwide. Around 25,300 of these people are based in Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific is a founding member of the oneworld global alliance, whose combined network serves more than 900 destinations worldwide. Member airlines include: Cathay Pacific, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Fiji Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian and SriLankan Airlines. In addition, Oman Air will be joining the oneworld global alliance in 2025.
