Cathay Pacific Sets Standards High With New San Francisco Lounge Opening

Airline opens first Cathay Pacific branded lounge in United States

San Francisco (13 December 2011) --- Cathay Pacific has raised the bar on standards for airport lounge style and comfort in the United States, opening a new premium First and Business Class lounge, conveniently located on Level 4 of the International Terminal building at San Francisco International Airport.

San Francisco is the first city in the United States to experience the exquisite modern and contemporary lounge design, modeled on the airline’s award-winning lounges in Hong Kong.

“We aim to offer the very best experience when flying Cathay Pacific and believe our customers will appreciate our new lounge for its unique quality and elegance,” said Scott Mowrer, Senior Vice President, Americas for Cathay Pacific.  “This major investment in the San Francisco lounge is a reflection of the importance of this market, and illustrates the kind of product that sets us apart.”

The lounge is built with the finest quality Carrara white marble & “China Black” granite, with warm bamboo wood finishes and panoramic windows offering an abundance of natural light. The reception wall is made of Venetian glass tiles by Fabbian of Italy, and backlit, to create a sparkling abstract impression of bamboo, whilst ensuring a consistent look and feel to the airline’s flagship lounges at Hong Kong International Airport.

To enable passengers to relax, there is comfortable lounge seating, including the innovative Cathay Solus Chair.  Handcrafted by Poltrona Frau in Italy, the unique and popular Cathay Solus Chair is a specially built unit designed for our single customers offering a space to eat, work and relax.  There are also three shower suites for those wishing to freshen-up.

The dining area features the airline’s signature Noodle Bar offering freshly prepared noodles such as Dan Dan Mien and Wonton Noodles in soup, further demonstrating the airline’s commitment to offer the finest cuisine to its customers. A wide variety of hot and cold Western and Asian dishes are also available from the self-service counter.

Seven private work stations with desktop computers and internet access offer a convenient way to work or connect with family or friends. Wireless capability is complimentary and also available throughout the lounge area.

The lounge is open 4 hours prior to flight departure. Customers invited to enjoy the lounge are First and Business Class passengers traveling on Cathay Pacific and oneworld carriers, and members of the Marco Polo Club with Silver Card status and above and oneworld Sapphire or above members.
