Cathay Pacific set to fly to the Maldives, one of the world’s most exotic holiday destinations

Cathay Pacific Airways today announced that it will launch a new four-times-weekly service to the Maldives, one of the most-sought-after getaways in the world for leisure travellers. The new service is scheduled to commence on 27 October 2013, subject to government approval.

Located in the middle of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives is a chain of islands whose beauty is unsurpassed, with pristine white-sand beaches, azure seas and amazing coral reefs. The islands are home to a rich marine life, including several endangered species, and are considered by many travellers as the perfect place for a honeymoon. Visitors to the Maldives currently enjoy a free 30-day visa on arrival in the capital city, Malé.

To ensure passengers enjoy the maximum comfort for their journey to the Maldives, Cathay Pacific will use an Airbus A330-300 aircraft equipped with its award-winning Business Class, new Premium Economy Class and Long-haul Economy Class cabins. Flights will depart from Hong Kong to Malé International Airport every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

All passengers will get to enjoy the airline’s premium inflight service, delivered by our cabin crew, who were recently honoured with the “World’s Best Cabin Staff” award at the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards. Passengers will also enjoy state-of-the-art inflight entertainment featuring on-demand video and audio in all classes of travel.

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive John Slosar said: "The Maldives is the perfect getaway for holidaymakers from Hong Kong and around the world. Cathay Pacific is a premium service airline and our passengers will enjoy the best products and services when they fly with us to the Maldives. The continued expansion of our network highlights our commitment to boosting Hong Kong's place as one of the world’s great international aviation hubs."
