Cathay Pacific press statement on Colombo airport closure

Cathay Pacific Airways confirms that all passengers and crew on flight CX700 from Colombo-Bangkok-Hong Kong are safe, and they are being looked after by the airline staff in Colombo.

It is understood that the military base adjoining Sri Lanka's only international airport has come under attack from suspected rebels. The Colombo airport is presently closed. No further information is available at this time.

The preliminary passenger list indicates that there are 142 passengers booked and 17 crew for CX700, a Boeing 777-300. These figures are subject to further confirmation. Family and friends of passengers who may be on this flight should call either of the numbers listed below.
