Cathay Pacific opens new lounge in San Francisco – airline’s first branded lounge in the United States

Cathay Pacific Airways today announced the opening of its first branded lounge in the United States, offering passengers travelling between San Francisco and Hong Kong a comfortable place to relax and unwind before their flight.

The new Cathay Pacific First and Business Class lounge, modelled on the airline’s award-winning lounges at Hong Kong International Airport, is conveniently located on Level 4 of the International Terminal Building at San Francisco International Airport.

Cathay Pacific General Manager Product Alex McGowan said: “Cathay Pacific passengers who are familiar with our lounges in Hong Kong will be delighted to get a ‘taste of home’ at San Francisco International Airport. The first Cathay Pacific lounge in the US will feature familiar favourites and we believe it will continue to enhance the quality of our passengers’ travel experience.”

The 520-square-metre facility features an exquisite contemporary design similar to the airline’s flagship Hong Kong lounges. It features the finest quality materials including Carrara white marble and “China Black” granite, with warm bamboo wood finishes and panoramic windows offering an abundance of natural light. The reception wall is made of Venetian glass tiles by Fabbian of Italy, backlit to create a sparkling abstract impression of bamboo.

Comfortable lounge seating enables passengers to relax, while the innovative Cathay Solus Chair appears for the first time outside Hong Kong. Handcrafted by Poltrona Frau in Italy, the unique Cathay Solus Chair is a specially build unit designed for customers travelling on their own, offering a space to eat, work and relax. Three shower suites are also available in the lounge for those wishing to freshen up before their flight.

The dining area features the airline’s signature Noodle Bar offering freshly prepared noodles such as dan dan noodles and wonton noodles in soup, further demonstrating the airline’s commitment to offer the finest cuisine to its customers. A wide variety of hot and cold Western and Asian dishes are also available from the self-service counter.

Seven private workstations with desktop computers and Internet access offer a convenient way to work or connect with family or friends. Wireless capability is complimentary and available throughout the lounge area.

The lounge is open four hours prior to flight departure. Customers eligible to use the facility include First and Business Class passengers traveling on Cathay Pacific and oneworld carriers, members of the Marco Polo Club with Silver Card status and above, Cargo Clan Elite members and oneworld Sapphire or above members.
