Cathay Pacific New York flights affected by Hurricane Sandy Passengers advised to check latest flight information

Cathay Pacific Airways announced that the following flights on Monday (29 October) have been cancelled due to the expected major disruption at the John F Kennedy International Airport caused by Hurricane Sandy.

Flight CX888 on 29 October will be operating between Hong Kong and Vancouver only and the sector between Vancouver and New York will be cancelled.

“We do expect more disruption to our New York services on Monday and even Tuesday due to possible closure of public transport and the airport.  Details will be announced when we have the next update from local authorities.  Due to the long flight time, we have to make decision well in advance regarding flights departing Hong Kong on Monday morning.  Passengers with onward connections in New York are advised to check the latest flight information with respective airlines, and they should be aware that hotel availability in New York is tight,” a Cathay Pacific spokesman said.

Passengers booked on the cancelled flights are advised not to go to the airport.  Cathay Pacific will assist with alternative arrangements for affected passengers.

The airline will waive all rebooking and rerouting charges for Cathay Pacific tickets issued worldwide on or before 28 October 2012 for travel on Cathay Pacific with confirmed bookings involving New York between 29 October and 31 October 2012. Details are available at www.cathaypacific.com.

Passengers are advised to check the latest flight information on the airline’s website www.cathaypacific.com before departing for the airport.  They are also advised to enter their contact details in the Manage My Booking function on the website to ensure they receive the latest flight updates via SMS or email.
