Cathay Pacific greets High Court decision over pilot rosters

Cathay Pacific Airways today greeted as a victory for common sense the High Court's refusal to grant an injunction to stop the company implementing new roster practices the company introduced in August 2001.

The High Court's refusal to grant First Officer Murray Gardner a summary judgement blocking changes to roster practices means that the issue could only be resolved at a full trial.

Today's decision allows Cathay Pacific to continue to implement roster practice changes introduced in August 2001 (RP 2001).

Cathay Pacific's Director Corporate Development, Tony Tyler said: "We welcome the court's decision to dismiss the application for an injunction. It's clearly a victory for common sense. Cathay Pacific's case has always been that the issue is a complex matter and that a summary judgement would be inappropriate. We are pleased that the judge agreed."
