Cathay Pacific flight update
Cathay Pacific Airways announced it plans to operate a total of 129 flights today out of an original schedule of 144. Today, a total of 37 flights are scheduled to be operated by aircraft chartered by Cathay Pacific. Yesterday a total of 39 flights were operated by the chartered aircraft. The airline will release three of the chartered aircraft at the weekend as operations continue to improve despite the ongoing threat of industrial action by its pilots' union.
Yesterday, Thursday, 12 July, the airline operated 126 flights out of an original schedule of 145. A total of 34 flights experienced delays of more than 15 minutes.
A number of steps were taken over the past week to minimise the delays and cancellations caused by the AOA's Hong Kong disruption plan, including chartering aircraft and temporarily trimming the operating schedule. Cathay Pacific is currently in the process of restoring services to a number of the destinations which were suspended, and is looking to reinstate all destinations as soon as possible.
Cathay Pacific's Director Corporate Development Tony Tyler said: "We are making steady progress towards resuming our full normal schedule, though we remain vigilant in case the AOA decide to escalate their industrial action again. We apologise to our passengers for the inconvenience caused by the disruptions of the past week."
