Cathay Pacific Expands China Experience Tour Offerings To Include Yangtze River Cruises, Chengdu Panda Visits

New offerings include cruises along the Yangtze River as well as the chance to help care for a panda cub during a visit to the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Chengdu. Visits to the 11,450 ft. high city of Lhasa in Tibet and its magnificent monasteries are also available. The airline has also preserved the special VIP elements of its original tours, including the opportunity to actually hold ancient artifacts at the Xi’an Museum and personally experience sites off limits to the general public like the Hall of Double Glory inside the Forbidden City.

“China Experience is so named because this isn’t a tour, it’s a true come home and talk about it for weeks experience,” said Dennis Owen, vice president, marketing, Americas, for Cathay Pacific. “Whether you’re learning to create an etching while tourists wonder aloud why only you get to touch the ancient steles or you’re basking in the moment when you leave the crowds to stand alone in a hall once used by the Chinese emperor to entertain, these are truly lifetime memories you’ll be experiencing.”

The 10 China Experience tour packages are highlighted in detail on Cathay Pacific’s Web site – www.cathaypacific.com/us – under the “Packages” tab. Packages, including air fare, start at just US$3,669 per person, double occupancy, excluding taxes and fees. All packages are now available directly through your professional travel agent.

Cathay Pacific’s China Experience packages feature a wealth of options including business or economy class seating on trans-Pacific flights, luxury or traditional hotel accommodations and the ability to mix and match elements of the various tour packages if you want to create something truly unique.

The tours, including the VIP elements, and all ground arrangements are provided through Peregrine Travel Group, last year’s exclusive distributor of Shanghai World Expo tickets in the United States.

Cathay Pacific Airways flies to Hong Kong from Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco and – starting Sept. 1, 2011, Chicago – with onward connections throughout mainland China as well as Southeast Asia via Cathay or its sister carrier, Dragonair.
