Cathay Pacific draws first ten 'World's Biggest Welcome' winners

Cathay Pacific today drew the first 10 winners in "The World's Biggest Welcome" lucky draw at Times Square. The winners were drawn from people who nominated a friend or relative living in Asia or the Middle East to receive one of the 10,000 tickets that Cathay Pacific is giving away for people to visit Hong Kong.

Another three draws will also take place this week among people who elected to invite their friends and relatives from Europe, Australasia, South Africa and North America. Making this four-day draw extra special, the 100 winners will receive two additional air tickets for their own travel and would automatically qualified for the special Grand Draw on 5 February.

Among those present at the draw were local celebrity Alex Fong, Cathay Pacific Director and Chief Operating Officer Philip Chen, Legislative Council Member Mr Cheung Yu Yan, District Council Vice-Chairmen Mr Cheng Chun Ping, Mr Leung Kin Man, and Mr Leung Che Cheung.

Philip Chen, who drew the very first winner of "The World's Biggest Welcome", said, "On behalf of Cathay Pacific, I would like to congratulate all the winners today. I believe their personal efforts to showcase Hong Kong will leave visitors a memorable experience and give them a reason to spread the word back home as to why Hong Kong is 'Asia's World City'."

Each day's draw follows a theme designed to highlight different aspects of Hong Kong as a world class tourist destination. Today's theme was centred on the eateries in Hong Kong.

Speaking at today's Draw ceremony, Mr Tommy Cheung said, "The food industry in Hong Kong offers fabulous food at great prices. Hong Kong restaurants welcome visitors from around the world with excellent service. Our chefs and restaurateurs are ready to give 'The World's Biggest Welcome' to the 10,000 lucky visitors in Cathay Pacific's spectacular draw."

Up to 29 January, the fourth day of the campaign, Cathay Pacific has already collected close to 150,000 forms from the public.

Closing date for the draw is midnight of 2 February 2002. Entry form drop-off points are located at six MTR stations - Central, Admiralty, Causeway Bay, Kowloon Tong, Mongkok and Tsim Sha Tsui, and at the departure level of the Hong Kong International Airport.
