Cathay Pacific cancels further flights due to Typhoon Utor
Cathay Pacific Airways today announced that as of 8:00pm tonight it had cancelled a total of 31 out of 132 flights scheduled for the day due to the impact of Typhoon Utor. A total of 77 flights have also experienced delays of more than 15 minutes.
Cathay Pacific operated one extra return flight to Taipei. Five additional flights were also operated by chartered aircraft on its behalf between Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, Manila, and Melbourne.
A number of Cathay Pacific flights scheduled to arrive at Hong Kong International Airport have been diverted this evening to alternate airports due to continuing bad weather conditions in the wake of the typhoon. Flights departing from Hong Kong this evening will also experience significant delays and cancellations.
Passengers who cannot be booked onto alternative flights and those whose flights have major delays are being given meal vouchers. The airline is working hard to locate hotel accommodation for those passengers who may be delayed overnight.
Cathay Pacific's check-in counters at Hong Kong International Airport and the In-Town Check-In service at Hong Kong Station and Kowloon Station of the Airport Express Line have been suspended for a period this evening and are currently only open for certain flights.
Cathay Pacific sincerely regrets the inconvenience which passengers have suffered as a result of this disruption. The airline is doing everything possible to get passengers to their destinations as speedily as possible.
