Cathay Pacific cancels flights due to Typhoon Aere (5:00pm)
Cathay Pacific Airways this afternoon announced that, due to the approach of Typhoon Aere to Taiwan, the airline will suspend the arrival and departure of all flights from Hong Kong to Taipei following the departure of flight CX400 from Hong Kong at 16.20 Hong Kong time. Flights out of Taipei will be suspended after the departure of flight CX401 to Hong Kong at 19.10 Taiwan time.
Six flights from Hong Kong to Taipei will be affected today. All Hong Kong check-in facilities for Taipei-bound services, including online check-in, have been suspended until further notice. Two services departing Taipei for Hong Kong, CX451 and CX531, have been cancelled.
In addition, three flights between Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan have been affected. Today’s flight CX510 from Hong Kong to Fukuoka will not make its scheduled stop in Taipei but will continue non-stop to Fukuoka. Similarly, flight CX531 from Nagoya to Hong Kong will not make its scheduled stop in Taipei but fly non-stop to Hong Kong.
Today’s flight CX451 from Tokyo to Hong Kong, stopping in Taipei, has been cancelled and rescheduled to depart Tokyo at 15.15 tomorrow Tokyo time.
Normal services out of Hong Kong to Taipei may not resume until noon Hong Kong time tomorrow, depending on weather conditions, possibly affecting four services tomorrow CX460, CX530, CX472 and CX450. Services out of Taipei may not resume until after 14:00 tomorrow Taipei time, possibly affecting 10 flights: CX463, CX465, CX407, CX403, CX469, CX471, CX461, CX421, CX473 and CX511.

Enquiry hotlines are now in operation and will remain open until 23.00 this evening then reopen at 07.30 tomorrow morning.
