Cathay Pacific adds more US destinations in expansion of code-share arrangement with American Airlines

Cathay Pacific Airways today announced an expanded code-share agreement with oneworld alliance partner American Airlines that will see the airline add 11 new destinations to its network in the United States.

In the expanded agreement, Cathay Pacific’s “CX” code will be placed on selected American Airlines domestic flights between O’Hare International Airport in Chicago and nine US cities – Atlanta, Charlotte, Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, Kansas City, Minneapolis-St Paul, Philadelphia and Pittsburg. The latest arrangement will also cover American Airlines services from Los Angeles to Phoenix and Salt Lake City.

Tickets for the new code-share services are now open for sale for travel commencing 1 September 2011, when Cathay Pacific begins its new daily service between Hong Kong and Chicago.

Cathay Pacific Chief Executive John Slosar said: “This is another milestone for Cathay Pacific and our long-term partner American Airlines. Both airlines show great commitment to our customers and this latest arrangement will provide more choice and greater convenience for Cathay Pacific passengers travelling between Hong Kong and the US.”

“We are very pleased to work with Cathay Pacific on expanding our current partnership to cover additional destinations within the United States,” said Virasb Vahidi, American’s Chief Commercial Officer. “We look forward to helping more customers from Asia connect to various cities in the United States.”
