Dragonair welcomes Government's Budget commitment to promote Hong Kong tourism and trade

25 Feb 2015

(HONG KONG) Dragonair has welcomed the initiatives outlined in today’s Budget speech by Financial Secretary John Tsang to promote Hong Kong as a vibrant city for visitors, business travellers and investors alike.

Dragonair Chief Executive Officer Algernon Yau said: “We welcome the move to better promote Hong Kong in overseas markets, especially as a lot of the activities will be focused in Asia and Mainland China. With Dragonair’s network of 50 regional destinations, including 23 cities in the Mainland, we will do all we can to support efforts to promote Hong Kong’s tourism and trade.”

Dragonair expressed its support for the Government’s “One Belt One Road” initiatives, believing that trade facilitation activities and investment promotion efforts are important in helping to strengthen Hong Kong as a premier gateway into Mainland China and a leading aviation hub in the region.

The airline also believes that a third runway at Hong Kong International Airport is the only viable option for meeting Hong Kong’s air traffic needs in the long-term.

“As runway capacity at Hong Kong International Airport nears saturation, it is vital to press ahead with the expansion of our airport infrastructure to ensure that Hong Kong can maintain its position as one of Asia’s premier aviation hubs,” Mr Yau said.
