Cathay is a leading premium travel lifestyle brand based in Hong Kong, offering products and services across four lines of business – Premium Travel, Cargo, Low-Cost Travel and Lifestyle. The Cathay Group comprises premium full-service airline Cathay Pacific, cargo business Cathay Cargo, low-cost airline HK Express, express all-cargo carrier Air Hong Kong, and various other subsidiaries.

Cathay Pacific was founded in Hong Kong in 1946. The Group has been deeply committed to its home base, extending to the rest of Greater Bay Area, and making substantial investments to develop Hong Kong as one of the world’s leading international aviation centres.

Cathay is our master brand, which represents much more than airline travel. It represents our evolution into a premium travel lifestyle brand, consisting of a host of complementary categories – flights, holidays, shopping, dining, wellness and payment. All our travel lifestyle offerings are designed to bring customers exciting offers, rewards, and experiences with hand-picked partners.

Cathay Pacific is the brand of our airline. As at 31st December 2023, Cathay Pacific together with its subsidiaries HK Express and Air Hong Kong, had 230 aircraft, of which 5 were parked outside of Hong Kong. Our passenger and cargo airlines offered scheduled services to 92 destinations worldwide, including 18 airports in 16 cities in the Chinese Mainland. Furthermore, the Group served an additional 149 destinations through codeshare agreements.

The Cathay Group has 75 new passenger aircraft (as at 31st December 2023) scheduled to join the fleet in the coming years.

Cathay Pacific itself had 181 passenger and cargo aircraft as at 31st December 2023. The Group’s other investments include its catering, laundry, ground-handling and cargo terminal companies;, and its corporate headquarters at Hong Kong International Airport.

Shares of Cathay Pacific are listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.

HK Express, a low-cost carrier based in Hong Kong offering scheduled services within Asia, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific and had 33 aircraft as at 31st December 2023.

Air Hong Kong, an express all-cargo carrier offering scheduled and charter services in Asia, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific operating 16 aircraft as at 31st December 2023.

Number of People

As at 31st December 2023, the Cathay Group employed more than 23,800 people worldwide. Around 19,600 of these people are based in Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific is a founding member of the oneworld global alliance, whose combined network serves more than 900 destinations worldwide. Member airlines include: Cathay Pacific, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian and SriLankan Airlines. In addition, Oman Air will be joining the oneworld global alliance in 2024. Fiji Airways is a oneworld connect partner.
