Cathay Pacific to Add Fourth Daily Service from Los Angeles, Increase Flight Frequency from Chicago

Cathay Pacific Airways today announced that it will add a fourth daily direct flight from Los Angeles to Hong Kong on June 1, 2014 and three additional direct flights from Chicago to Hong Kong on August 2, 2014, bringing the number of flights from the Windy City to 10 per week (subject to government approval).

These additional services demonstrate Cathay Pacific’s ongoing commitment to expanding connectivity between North America and Asia, providing more scheduling flexibility and greater customer choice.

These additional North American flights come on top of Cathay Pacific’s recent announcement that it will launch a daily direct service from Newark to Hong Kong on March 1, 2014. This will complement the airline’s current four-times-daily service from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York. Cathay Pacific also operates two daily flights from San Francisco.

Cathay Pacific Senior Vice President, Americas, Tom Owen, said, “There is an essential reason why we’ve increased flight frequencies from two of our US gateways – customer demand.  Customers have repeatedly told us that they wanted more choice in departure times and connections, so we are delivering just that.

“The new Chicago - Hong Kong flights will offer much improved connections to our Asia network – including over 22 destinations in mainland China and six in India – and the morning departure from Hong Kong to Los Angeles will give passengers the option of a morning arrival into the city, with a range of onward connections to other US cities.  Additionally, the launch of our Newark - Hong Kong service on March 1, 2014, will provide more convenience and greater flexibility for passengers traveling to and from the New York metropolitan area.

“US travelers love flying to Asia with Cathay Pacific for many reasons: from our award-winning cabin crew to our inflight products and catering – both in the air and on the ground in our fabulous airport lounges – and now they have more opportunities to join us onboard.”

The fourth Los Angeles frequency will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, with a consistent product offering of First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class seats and Cathay Pacific’s award-winning cabin services. Also operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, all Chicago flights offer Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class products.
