Cathay Pacific returns to Rome for the summer

Announcement of 12th European Destination and Further Progress Towards Group's Goal of 100 Destinations by 2025

Thursday, January 9, 2025 Cathay Pacific Airways is pleased to announce that it will re-launch direct services between Hong Kong and Rome on 5 June 2025, continuing to expand its global network. The new service will be a three-times-weekly seasonal service and will be Cathay Pacific's second link between the Hong Kong hub and Italy. In addition, the Milan route will increase its frequency from the current five flights per week to a daily service this summer.

Rome is one of Europe's most historically and culturally rich cities, where travellers can explore a myriad of historical sites, museums and churches, and 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the Catholic Church's Jubilee celebrations, which take place in the Vatican and in Rome throughout the year. Cathay Pacific's return to Rome at this time of year is particularly significant as it makes it easier for travellers to reach the city from Asia.

Cathay Pacific's President, Customers & Business, Cathay Pacific Cathay Pacific said: "Cathay Pacific's relationship with Italy goes back almost 40 years. Cathay Pacific first launched direct flights between Hong Kong and Rome in 1986. We know that our customers have been eagerly awaiting the return of this route and we are delighted to reintroduce flights to and from the Italian capital this summer. We look forward to welcoming our customers to Rome on Cathay Pacific's world-class service, whether they are travelling for business, leisure or the Jubilee 2025 celebrations," he added.

Cathay Pacific's flights to and from Rome will be operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, with a choice of Business Class with flat beds, spacious Premium Economy Class and comfortable Economy Class.
