Cathay Pacific resumes flight services to New York, plans extra flights to help stranded passengers

The airline is also planning to operate three additional flights from Hong Kong to New York and four from New York to Hong Kong over the next few days to bring passengers affected by the flight cancellations due to Hurricane Irene to their destinations.

“We would like to advise customers that facilities including baggage services, ground transportation, hotels and onward connecting flights in New York will continue to be severely constrained for the next few days,” a Cathay Pacific spokesman said. “Despite these constraints, we are doing our best to bring our services back to normal. We thank all our passengers for their understanding.”
Passengers without confirmed bookings are advised not to go to the airport.
Online check-in and Self Check-in Kiosks for CX840 and CX846 on 29 August have been suspended.
The airline has extended the rebooking and rerouting charge waivers for Cathay Pacific tickets issued worldwide on or before 26 August 2011 for travel on Cathay Pacific with confirmed bookings involving New York between 26 August and 31 August 2011. Details are available at www.cathaypacific.com
