“We feel relieved that the medical checks by Port Health authorities have confirmed that the passengers onboard our flights from Japan to Hong Kong have not been subject to radioactive contamination.
“There were 1,014 passengers and 59 crew on board of the four flights from Japan to Hong Kong which arrived at the Hong Kong International Airport tonight.
“Safety of our passengers and crew members are our number one priority. This principle guides all our operation decisions. We are monitoring the situation very carefully and so far there has been no authoritative suggestion that flight operations to Japan are likely to be affected. We will continue to comply fully with guidelines from relevant aviation authorities.
“Members of our crew and ground staff in Japan have been performing their duty with professionalism of a highest order in maintaining our schedule to Japan despite the very challenging environment, so that people who want to fly to Hong Kong from Japan know clearly what flights are available at what time.
“We are also grateful to the Security Bureau and Port Health authorities for their support in facilitating our services to the people of Hong Kong.”
