Cathay Pacific will increase flights for Christchurch during its seasonal service between 1 November 2026 and 27 March 2027, offering South Island customers greater flexibility and seamless connectivity into Hong Kong and beyond. The seasonal service will operate at three flights per week during November 2026 and March 2027, ramping up to five flights per week during the peak travel months of December through to February.

Together with Cathay Pacific’s up to 11 flights per week from Auckland and its wider Australian network across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, the airline will operate close to 100 return flights per week across Oceania this summer.

Every additional service creates more opportunities for our customers to connect seamlessly through Hong Kong to destinations across Asia, Europe and beyond.

“The expanded services also provide more choice and convenience for leisure and business travellers as well as those visiting loved ones, while further reinforcing the strong links between New Zealand and the world.”

Travellers can enjoy the premium comfort of Cathay Pacific’s state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, which will service the majority of the Christchurch seasonal route.

For the peak December to February period, one of the five weekly flights will be operated by the Airbus A350-900.

Customers can also experience the airline’s world-leading inflight entertainment during their journey, along with inflight menus developed in collaboration with Michelin-starred Hong Kong restaurants on flights departing Hong Kong.

Wi-Fi connectivity is available across Cathay Pacific’s entire fleet, with the service currently complimentary for First and Business class customers, Diamond and Gold members travelling in all cabins, along with Cathay members in Premium Economy.

The belly space for cargo provided by these flights offers greater choice and capacity for cargo customers sending freight between the South Island, Hong Kong and beyond with cherries, live and chilled seafood and chilled meat leading the exports out of the city.
