Cathay Pacific Hackathon 2019 Cancelled

Cathay Pacific Hackathon 2019 Cancelled

Cathay Pacific has cancelled its annual Cathay Pacific 24-Hour Hackathon event, which was scheduled to take place tomorrow (9 November) and Sunday (10 November)

This was a very difficult decision and it is not one that we have taken lightly. We have carefully considered the latest developments in Hong Kong and, following a thorough risk assessment, we have decided to cancel the event to ensure the safety of guests, participants and colleagues. Safety and security are always our number one priority.

We’d like to thank all 250 participants for the overwhelming enthusiasm and interest shown for our 24-hour tech-fest, which brings people together to collaborate in innovation and software development activities. We fully understand this will come as a disappointment for everyone who has invested time, effort and energy into the series of pre-event activities, not least the “empathy days” providing an opportunity to learn about aviation.

In appreciation of the zest that the participants have demonstrated, Cathay Pacific is offering each of the participants one complimentary round-trip Economy Class ticket to any of our regional destinations. We remain committed in nurturing local talent, and fostering and employing innovation to provide customers with the best service possible.

We would also like to clarify the categorically untrue rumours regarding the use of participants’ personal information at the event. We can reassure all participants that none of their personal information has been or would have been shared with any external parties.
