Cathay Pacific Expands San Francisco To Hong Kong Service

SAN FRANCISCO – (January 15, 2015) -- Cathay Pacific Airways today announced the addition of three new flights per week from San Francisco International Airport to Hong Kong, bringing the total number of non-stop weekly flights from San Francisco to 17. The new service will begin on June 12, 2015.

Flight CX893 from San Francisco to Hong Kong will depart every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 1:30am, arriving in Hong Kong the following day at 6:40am. This early morning arrival will allow passengers to connect with every Cathay Pacific flight across Asia – including Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and over 22 gateways in mainland China – without a layover in Hong Kong. The return flight, CX892, will depart Hong Kong at 6:45pm (local time) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in San Francisco at 4:30pm (same day).

These additional services demonstrate Cathay Pacific’s ongoing commitment to expanding connectivity between the USA and Asia by providing more scheduling flexibility and greater customer choice. In addition to the new San Francisco flights, May 2 will see the launch of Cathay Pacific’s new four-times-weekly service from Boston to Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific Senior Vice President, Americas, Tom Owen, said, “San Francisco is an integral gateway for Cathay Pacific; it was our first destination when Cathay began a non-stop service to the USA in 1986 and we now operate 111 flights per week from seven gateways in the Americas. The San Francisco route, driven by the continued growth in the wider San Francisco Bay Area, continues to play a key role in our global network. We are very grateful to our loyal following of customers who have helped us to grow from a daily flight, with a stop-over in Vancouver, to the forthcoming 17 non-stop flights per week to Hong Kong.”

The new San Francisco flights will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft – consistent across the airline’s North American network – with a product offering of Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class seats and Cathay Pacific’s award-winning cabin services.
