Cathay Pacific completes first stage of renovations at The Wing, airline’s signature lounge in Hong Kong

Cathay Pacific Airways today reopened its Business Class Lounge, located on Level 6 of The Wing at Hong Kong International Airport, following an extensive renovation.

The Wing, the airline’s flagship lounge at Hong Kong International Airport, is currently going through a complete refurbishment in order to maintain its position as one of the world’s best airline lounges and to satisfy growing lounge demand. The Wing renovations, designed by London-based architects Foster+ Partners, will be completed in full by the fourth quarter of 2012.

The second phase of the refurbishment of The Wing begins in May, when the Level 7 section of the Business Class lounge closes down for an eight-month refit. The third phase of the renovation will commence in the first quarter of 2012 when work begins on the First Class Lounge.

The newly opened Business Class Lounge on Level 6, located by Gate 2 at the airport, covers 1,002 square metres and offers a new level of comfort and service for passengers flying out of Hong Kong.

The refurbished lounge offers a wide range of seating including 28 comfortable armchairs and nine unique Cathay Solus Chairs designed specifically to accommodate single travellers’ needs. All IT facilities have been moved to the Level 6 and passengers can make use of any of the 26 IT workstations equipped with individual computers and printers. The Level 6 lounge also houses all of The Wing’s Business Class shower suites – 24 in total (including one for disabled users) – where passengers can freshen up before departures. Finally, the self-serve buffet counter features a wider variety of quality Asian and Western hot dishes along with cold food selections.

As with all Cathay Pacific lounges, The Wing Level 6 Business Class Lounge is open to First and Business Class passengers, Silver and above Marco Polo Club members and Sapphire and above oneworld members. Opening hours are from 5:30am until the last departure flight.

If usage exceeds capacity during the renovation period, passengers will be invited to use the other three Cathay Pacific Group departure lounges at Hong Kong International Airport - The Cabin, The Pier, and the G16 Lounge.
